CEO Criteria
Paul English spends about 25% of his time recruiting CEO/Cofounders to work with us. These CEOs will become true cofounders working with us on ideation and mission and all aspects of getting each company built and launched.
Here are our five criteria for finding great CEOs:
1) B2C focus. BVS only works on mass-market consumer apps and websites, so we want CEOs who have built and led teams on successful consumer software products with millions of users.
2) Hiring. Do they have a loyal following, can they hire? Do they have a talent pool? Can they lead and manage a team?
3) Charisma. Are they confident, humble, vulnerable, fun, ethical, high energy, driven, decisive, focused? Are they a great storyteller, can they capture the attention of a room?
4) Press. Can they get attention for their projects?
5) VC. Can they raise money?
A great candidate for us is someone who has sold their company and is now ready for their next chapter. Or someone who has been a Director/VP at a top consumer tech company who wants to strike out on their own. Boston location would be ideal, but we’re open to NYC/SF/Miami/etc.
